At times the best idea is the most simplest – but we still need to protect it.
I spoke to some budding & existing entrepreneurs last night at MakePlace http://makeplace.co.nz/, which is a shared project space in Ahururi, Napier. It was about taking that idea from concept through to start-up & beyond, but applying a business approach to it.
One of the things we discussed in the Q&A was asset protection & here is an interesting article from the business.govt.nz website which talks about:
- Trademarks
- Patents
- Copyright
- Ownership
Have a read & if in doubt speak to a lawyer who operates in this area. It’s better to take some time & protect your idea rather than loose it!
I think of the 3M sticky notes – such a cool & simple idea, but imagine if that IP had not been protected!
