Part 2: Operations, Systems & Delivery

Part 2: Operations, Systems & Delivery

Recently we ran the first instalment in a short series of articles about the work PlanA Consulting does around helping develop a business's operational fitness.

We looked at the framework John from PlanA Consulting utilises to assess clients' business condition before developing 12-month strategies and 90-day sprints, and implementation of this planning. We also looked at a short case study of one of PlanA's clients. You can read part one here: www.bit.ly/mpt-cupolex

In this second instalment, we're going to look at another PlanA Consulting client and how John has worked closely with the owner to assess, plan, and ultimately deliver the results they're after.

Boyce Podiatry – Healthcare Provider

Boyce Podiatry – Healthcare Provider

Boyce Podiatry is a highly reputed foot care clinic with two locations in Hawke's Bay. They’ve built a strong reputation for providing exceptional service in both general and sports podiatry, and aim to take clients from 'better to best'.

Assessment – Boyce Podiatry

The key areas of focus during the assessment phase revealed the need for a much better understanding of the financials including the ability to 'balance the books' consistently. Also identified was the need for a review of existing staff members and better engagement from the team in general, along with improved role identification to define who does what.

Another interesting outcome from this assessment was the owner's 'guilty feelings' related to not doing enough. A common issue business owner's raise, John was able to begin addressing this by assisting in developing a better work-life balance for the owner while achieving business goals, meeting growth targets, and looking toward sustainable scalability in the future.

Quote #1

"During the initial assessment phase with John, his systematic inquiry into the business and its current position, across all facets, was incredibly revealing. We identified solutions to all things I was having problems with and uncovered a bunch of other areas that needed attention. It was a scary process, unpacking intimate business details, but John's approach made it comfortable and in no time the clarity began to shine through."

Quote #2

"For the first year after the initial assessment and planning, John would contact me once a week for a 10-minute phone-call to check in and see if I was sticking to the plan and if there was anything I was having a problem with. It's now a one-hour monthly phone-call then every quarter John, my accountant and I meet for to run through the financials and make sure everything is on track."
