You can have all the best plans, you can have all the best strategy, you can have all the best business objectives, you can have the best financial management, the best budgets, have done all the thinking, but there's one thing that makes a difference when it comes to business success in my mind.

Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. So what's that got to do with business?

Well if there's one thing that I think sets businesses apart and I've been fortunate to work with lots of different folks over the years, if there's one thing that really sets them apart, it's not all the planning, it's not all the strategy, it is the implementation, getting stuff done.

I want to give you five simple things to think about when it comes to implementing or executing in your business.

Number 1

Make sure you've got a clear direction, that people understand not just the big picture, but what's the immediate focus, what is the plan for the next 90 days, what is the plan for the next month, what is the plan for the next week, what do we need to do what are the things we actually need to get out and execute really well.

Number 2

The next thing is to take that direction and turn it into activity, so identify the key tasks, identify who's going to do them, when are they going to get done, execute execute execute.

Number 3

The third thing is have good communication, because the way we can be doing things we want to make sure that it's aligned with everyone else and what we're doing is actually actually working.

Number 4

Evaluate what you do, don't just do the same old thing and expect to get a different result, we need to do something, try it, test it, change it.

Number 5

Repeat. Once we've done something, we've evaluated it, we repeat that process again. I'm going to give you some examples over the next few weeks about how people have actually implemented really well in their business and the results they've got.
