Wow it’s hard to believe that as I type this we’re in April and heading fast towards May. That’s the first quarter of the calendar year done and dusted and the start of a new financial year! Where did the past year go?

Without wanting to have a political spin in this email newsletter, it is great to see those businesses north of the Auckland border getting ready to open up with DHB vaccination rates moving past the 90% threshold.

Businesses I work with (that I think are a good snap shot of Hawke's Bay SMEs) had a pretty strong run up to the end of 2020 and a good finish to the end of the financial year. Their financial reporting is showing strong trading and financial position, but there is still a feeling of cautious optimism.
